Chatakpur is a small locality in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. This place, nestled in the sloppy hill area, has many things for nature enthusiasts. This small village perched on the greeny hills of Darjeeling at an altitude of 7887 feet. The main attraction of this area is Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary. Interesting places: Sundakphu is one of the most regarded and enjoyed places in West Bengal for its trekking availability. From Chatakpur Watchtower one can see a clear view of Sandakphu which is 10 minutes walk.
If you start by early in the morning, it takes 40 minutes from Darjeeling to reach this place. But from Chatakpur, it takes 15 minutes by walk. A lot of people prefer to see the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga from this place.
Want to do trekking but your back pain doesn’t allow you to do so? Then there’s a small or you can say ting trek route is available which leads towards the down area where you will find a Pokhri. Only 18 village homes are there in this area where you can buy organic vegetables from their backyards. These people are amazing in their ways. How to reach Chatakpur: whenever you go to North Bengal, the only airline you can use is Bagdogra. The easiest way to reach Chatakpur is hill cart road towards Kurseong. From there go further upwards, and from Sonada take a right turn towards Forrest Office Road. That eventually connects Chatakpur road. Else you can take a cab and come from Sonada to Chatakpur.
If you’re planning to visit Chatakpur then the right time to be there is from June to September.
