"The queen of hills" Darjeeling conjures the images of snow-peak mountains. Toy-train, plenty of tea gardens, and an azure sky with a lush green ambiance come with its name. An ideal destination for all travelers. I have been there 3 times and every time I went there this place left me astonished by its beauty. Darjeeling beckons thousands of people to heal them up. people from different parts of the globe visit this place throughout the year. Today, we'll talk about a few well-known Darjeeling attractions that you should include in your schedule.
Ghum Station: Ghum is a tiny town known for its rail station. Situated at an altitude of 2300 meters. Although the main attraction of this beautiful hill area is the Ghum station. It has several other beautiful locations such as Batasia loop, Ghum monastery.
Tiger Hill: Located at an elevation of 2750 meters, this location has gained international acclaim for its beauty. Tiger Hill is located 13 kilometers. There is a disappointment in this name. When I heard this name for the first time I thought I would get a chance to see real tigers over there. But, I didn't see a single tiger over there. thank god! jokes apart when the alarm rang thrice I woke up and prepared to head up tigers hill. We waited to see the golden crest of Kanchenjunga and when the mighty helped us to see it, we were amused by its magnificence charm.
Batasia Loop: 1947 This memorial architecture was constructed in the memory of all soldiers from Darjeeling who martyred in war. This is an exceptional view of snowy peaks from to top of the Batasia Loop. It's amazing to see the toy train run around the Batasia Loop. This location is only 5 kilometers from Darjeeling's mainland. Tahe town, a picturesque locale, may also be observed from here.
Shanti Stupa: Shanti Stupa, also known as the Peace Pagoda, is situated at a high height on the slopes of Jalaphar. This location can be reached by cab or, if you are physically active, by walking. This Peace Pagoda depicts Lord Budhha's four primary incarnations. It was built in response to a Japanese order. On a clear day, one may see Kanchenjunga from here.
The Mall: The Mall is the major meeting place or assembly location. This is essentially a Chowrasta with a large flat land design with a lovely water fountain in the center. Tourists and locals congregate in this neighborhood in the evening. There is an open stage for performing local cultural events. If you want to buy souvenirs for your loved ones, here is the finest spot to do it. The Mall has everything you need, from curio stores to food courts to wine shops.
Although the above-mentioned places are not only the destinations that you would keep your itinerary, there are many offbeat spots that are not in trend. On the other day, we will discuss those as well.
