Jhargram : Hill station near Kolkata.

Jhargram is One of my favorite destinations of all time. There are two reasons that it has become my favorite destination. First, it is very close to Kolkata and second, it has rural fragrance in its air. This green area is situated in the western part of Medinipur. Jhargram is encircled by meandering Subarnarekha in the south and Kankrajhor in the north. Jhargram offers exotic Belpahari hills which is one of the most alluring sites in this region. Make sure you won’t miss these places while you’re in Jhargram.

Jhargram Royal Palace: It is said, the Man sing came to conquer Bengal on behalf of Emperor Akbar during 1574 AD. This Palace has a huge history behind its glory. 3 km away from Jhargram station this Royal Palace or Raj Bari remains the iconic emblem of Jhargram. If you visit this place you can stay at the Rajbari as the authority has turned the ground floor of this palace into a hotel. Many temples are also there which you see nearby this palace.

Chilkigarh Palace: this palace is situated just about 12 km away from the Jharagram. The best attraction of Chilkigarh Palace is its century-old Durga Mandir. This attracts people to this place throughout the year. You will see this place is encircled by high walls. It is said, Man Singh had built this high wall to protect this beautiful palace from Borgi at that time. Subarnarekha river flows through the whole area which makes this place a picnic hub for locals. The best time to visit this palace is falling although people love to come to this place throughout the year.

Kendua: a place for migrating birds: An ample amount of birds come to this place to lay their eggs between November to January. A great place for bird watchers. This area is located 9 km from Jhargram. Come to this place in December. At that time it is worth visiting Kendua.

Kankrajhor: Kankrajhor or kakrajhora is stands for Missing jungles. As this hilly forest area is 253 km away from Kolkata and 73 km from Jhargram that is why it remains less crowded. This is a great place for trekkers in the forestlands of Midnapore. If you love to see Coffee and orange trees cultivation this is a great place to visit. This 900 hectares area is covered with Shaal, Shegun, Kusum, Teak, Mahua, and Akashmani tree. The density of trees in this area is so high that it often leaves tourists mesmerized. Any time you can visit this place. The best view you will get you to travel this by Motorcycles.

Belpahari: As the name suggests this place is surrounded by low-altitude hills. This makes it one of the best tourist destinations in Jhargram. You will see deep hardwood trees across this area. Dolma hills stand out among others in this area. Covered with Eucalyptus, Shaal, Mahua, Piyal, SonaJhiri, and other trees makes this a Paradise for nature lovers. 30 Km away from Jhargram, Belpahari is one of my favorite places nearby Jhargram.

Hatibari: 24 km away from Jhargram and perched on the bay of Subarnarekha, Hatibari used to be a home for wild animals. But now this place is left with very few animals. On the riverside, locals set up tents for tourists to do Picnic in. This makes the place the best among trekkers. Anytime you can visit this place. From here a Dam, named Jhillibadh can be reached which is 3 km away from Hatibari

Deer Park: One of the go-to places for children in Jhargram is Deer Park. 3 km away this park has many deers, reptiles, black rabbits, and crocodiles. Many locals come to this place for a Picnic.

Although Jhargram is not all about only the above-mentioned places. But these are the top-notch places that you can put on your itinerary.
